How we make money
Many of the buttons and links on our pages are affiliate links. When you click one and buy something, the retailer or the brand pays us commission through an affiliate network. Some links pass through partner tracking platforms before reaching the shop, which is how the sale is credited to us.
You pay exactly the same price as you would going to the shop directly. Now and then our partners even give us access to discounts that we pass on to you.
What commission never does
- It never decides which products we test or how we rank them.
- It never buys a positive review or removes a negative one.
- It is the same whatever position a product holds in a list.
Brands don't see our reviews before they are published and can't ask us to change them.
Advertorials
Some pages are labelled "Advertorial". These are written as a story about a single product and they also contain affiliate links. They are always clearly labelled at the top of the page.
UK rules we follow
Affiliate links count as marketing under UK law. We follow the guidance of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on hidden advertising and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, as now covered by the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. We also follow the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (the CAP Code), enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), and the ASA and CMA guidance on labelling affiliate content.
In practice this means you can always tell when content could earn us money. You'll see a notice at the top of every page, advertorials carry a clear label before you start reading, and this page explains the full arrangement.
